Off Course, the setup
Ex-fighter pilot Frank Robinson is used to big risks. But this is more than he bargained for. To solve some financial problems, he takes a side gig flying cocaine from Venezuela to West Africa. He makes some money, then quits and returns to being an airline pilot/divorced dad in Baltimore. But leaving isn’t so easy: Frank’s old boss pulls him back in, this time on a “volunteer” basis. From there, things snowball: a rival cartel tries to shoot him down; the DEA decides it wants him to be an informant; he gets bitten by a snake and busted in Guinea-Bissau.
Frank’s regular life isn’t so simple either. His younger daughter has learning issues; his older kid is transitioning. Frank is fine with that, but some angry parents think she’s a threat to the sanctity of their soccer league. And he’s still stuck on his ex, who left after he had an ill-advised fling. Frank’s only ally is his narco-copilot, Vanessa Rodriguez, a no-nonsense charter pilot who’s also a conscript. Like Frank, Vanessa just wants her old life back. Do they have what it takes to make that happen?
